ok i just installed my new ram OCZ 800 MHz DDR2-PC-6400 4 x 1 gig and on my bios it says i have i 4 gigs installed when i log onto windows it says i only have 2.8 gigs installed ?

is this a xp bug or is it some thing else please help as this has got me stumped ?
 
That is because you use a 32bit OS. If you search on google you can find the technical explanation behind this occurance.

that's normal, that's the most that 32bit xp can handle.
this is why we research before we buy, you wasted money on that fourth stick.
 
The other guys are right dude.XP 32bit edition can only utilize 3gigs of ram and only sees that much.Once you change to the 64 version of XP,you'll be able to fully utilize all your memory.It's a windows thing.Goodluck.

i already have 64 bit vista i went back to 32 bit cos of of a fews bugs in vista so i havent wasted any money but thanks for being a smart ass it really helped NOT !
