My wife's computer has been running extremely slowly lately. We suspect that it's either all of the accumulated background junk that comes with three years of use, or it's because all the newer programs (e.g., latest edition of Firefox) use up a ton of RAM and she only has 4GB.

Computer Specs:
Acer Aspire V3-571
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Intel i5-2450M 2.5Ghz
4GB RAM

A little while ago her computer was going really slow, and I checked which processes were taking up the most memory. Here's what I found:

2 instances of svchost.exe: 455MB + 166MB
firefox: 200MB (even though she only had 1 tab open)

What's the best idea for her to do? Carefully clean up her computer? Hard Windows reboot (all her info is backed up so it wouldn't be too crazy hard)? Get more RAM? Get a new computer?

Thanks!
