I apologize, I made perhaps one of the biggest amateur moves. I didn't even USE the standoffs. I could have saved myself 4 hours of stress if I would have just read the manual again. Thanks for the info. I'll be lucky if the bottom of my mobo or case isn't damaged.
It's just a standard size PCI Express card so it should fit no problem in a PCI Express slot.
As long as the gold-coloured edge connector is inside the slot you should be able to screw down the backplate. There's no need to push the card down any further down than that, even if the top of the gold edge connector is still visible it should still work.
Have you actually tried to see if your PC detects it okay?
I'm so glad you fixed it but would you mind sharing your mistake with us for the benefit of other members please? We all make mistakes, even so called "experts", so there is nothing to be ashamed of.
I once spent half an hour trying to get my PC to power up - - it was totally dead and I was having a panic attack.
Then I realised nothing in the house would switch on - - there had been a power cut. Boy was I relieved, but I felt really stupid too for not checking that in the first place.
