WiFi and eathernet speeds fluctuate dramatically and quickly

I have fiber optic from at&t and it should be able to reach up to 500mb, and sometimes it does on eathernet, but sometimes it might be as slow as 10mb, it is usually somewhere in between. I have tested this many times using different internet speed test and it seems that my internet may change up to a 200mb difference in 10 seconds for better or worse. This can become extremely annoying itself but to know I am paying a lot for high speed internet makes it worse. My IPS is AT&T and I have an at&t u-verse modem with a luxul epic 3 dual-band AC3100 router
Thanks

The performance will be only as fast as the slowest link.

With the speed variations you describe I would look for a bad connection.

Starting with the incoming fiber from AT&T map out all the cables, connections, and devices in your network.

Include everything: all devices, ports, cables - get the "big picture".

Then go from beginning to end to look for loose connections, signs of cable damage, rodent chews, nails or staples penetrating or pinching cables, cables with kinks or sharp bends. Open ethernet wall outlets, check the punch downs. Do the same for any patch panels.

What devices are connected to your network? Look at all of them and how they are configured: perhaps there is a duplicate IP.

Check that AT&T modem is not acting as a router and trying to assign IP addresses. The AC3100 should be assigning DHCP IP addresses. Not both.

First step is to understand what is the "now". Then focus on the "what should be".

Hi!

I would focus on the Ethernet connection first. Make sure that is fast and stable and then worry about WiFi. If your speeds are fluctuating that much on a wired Ethernet connection, then something easily fixable is wrong. WiFi has it's own host of issues but focus on the easy part first.

Try connecting directly to the UVerse modem. If that's fast and stable, great, move on to the Luxul with a direct Ethernet connection. But if not...

If the UVerse modem is fluctuating dramatically with an Ethernet connection, try a different Ethernet cable and maybe a different PC to make sure it's still a problem. If you still have the problem, either the service to the house is problematic (ATT has to fix that, call them). Or your modem is bad (they have to replace that. call them).

If the UVerse is stable but the Ethernet connection to the Luxul is fluctuating, try a different Ethernet cable and maybe a different PC to make sure it's still a problem. If you still have a problem with the Luxul wired connection, the Luxul probably needs to be replaced (Call Luxul).

If wired to both of those devices is stable but the problems start when you go to WiFi, then let me know and we can talk about that.
