Wifi antenna and proprietary connections between board and case

I'm getting a new motherboard for my case and my original motherboard has a WiFi antenna wire attach to it. I don't need a WiFi antenna because I use Ethernet but is there any issue to just rip off the wire from the motherboard? Also what are proprietary connections, it's the first time I heard of it? Are there measures that I should take to "deal" with said connections?

You can disconnect the wire if you want without hurting anything but the wifi will stop working. Proprietary connections are specific to that brand and model computer and are not common to other brands making them incompatible in most cases.

In other words the wireless connection will be severed by the Ethernet will still work right?

Yes the ethernet will still work.
