Hi all. This is my first post here, so please forgive me if there is another board where this topic would be better suited, I figured this would be best place based on the topics I saw.

I have an HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 ultrabook that is having a very annoying problem with the WiFi antenna disconnecting from the wireless card. I don't know which genius designed this, but the wires for the antenna run right through one of the hinges, so between opening/closing the laptop and just general movement of the laptop from place to place, one of the antenna wires keeps physically disconnecting from the wireless card.

It looks something like this (not my actual laptop, but pretty much exactly what I'm looking at):

This of course results in a very weak signal, and either slow speeds or no connection at all. It's also a huge pain to fix as reconnecting the antenna requires turning off the pc and unscrewing the 8 t4 screws from the bottom of the laptop. It occurs regularly enough that I actually bought a separate t4 screwdriver to carry around in my bag so I don't have to lug my regular toolkit around with me everywhere I go.

This thing is my primary machine for school and work, so I'd really like to avoid sending it to HP or something for an extended period of time (and potentially significant $$$). What I'd really like is a way to more securely/permanently connect the antenna to the wireless card. Is there any recommended way to do this? Soldering? Any sort of component-safe adhesive? This laptop has been such an amazing machine in every other aspect, but this problem is driving me up the wall.

Solution
No glue or soldering. Doing so will probably not end well......

I cannot really see the end of the cable or the connector plug itself.

But it does appear to be one of those small RCA like connectors. Circular with little gaps spaced evenly around.

There might even be some little metal tab used to lock the connector into place. The tab may be bent out of shape and no longer able to grip and hold the connection together.

You might be able to squeeze the connector ring together a little bit if you are careful not to bend the ring out of shape or otherwise crush it.

Just pinch with your fingers - work your way around as carefullly as you can.

You might also be able to find the Ultrabook's maintenance manual online. Identify...

Solution
Don't go pinching or squeezing anything. Those connectors, when properly seated, very rarely pop off. You must line it up and have it absolutely parallel with the board before pressing straight down. You will feel a definite click when it is properly seated, and a very light pull on the wire will not dislodge it. If it does come off then it wasn't properly seated, start again.
