Hi!

SO!! here is my setup..

I have a tanda N300 router which is having the internet connection from my ISP then I have A RT-N66U Asus router in AP mode IE the DHCP in asus is disabled under the AP mode & the Tenda n300 is providing all the IP's, Now on my asus RT-N66U I have hooked my PS4 & my PC which are working fine & connecting to internet I have then hooked a ethernet cable from my RT-N66u to Cisco router which is on dd-wrt & DHCP on that is disabled as well while a PC hooked to cisco is also working well. All 3 router (Tenda N300,RT-N66U,Cisco) are wifi enabled.

Now the issue is that all my devices connected via ethernet IE PS4 & 2 PC's are working fine while all some of my mobile connect to wifi & work fine while some mobile connect to wifi shows connected but then internet don't.. EG my iphone & oneplus shows connected but the net don't work but on other devices EG my nexus5X the wifi is connect & works as well..

Now what I think is that this is some DNS or IP address Issue but Im not able to solve this so pls help!!

N THX in adv..

Unplug your router on the edge that should be running your DHCP and see if any devices down from it have ips (not including static). This is a fast way to see if you have a 2nd dhcp server running. You can also compare the subnets the devices are in. The ones in the wrong subnet will not have correct gateways. Don't use the WAN ports of any of the routers set up as AP, unless you did reallocate the physical port to LAN.

To check DNS you can ping websites like 8.8.8.8, but you won't be able to type google.com in and get there.

Finally an ans!!! thx

Now the tenda router Im using is set for DHCP while the asus has a build in AP mode which disables DHCP & converts the WAN in to LAN port & the 3rd Cisco router is on ddwrt so the DHCP has been disabled by me manually, the PCs connected via the lan port are working just fine while some mobile on wifi are also working but others laptop & mobiles are not IE they connect to the wifi shows in setting that they are connected but the internet wont work like in android mobile app store n all wont load but in wifi setting the wifi shows as connected, so how is even that possible that some are working while others are not?? cause the dhcp is being done by the primary router with the ISP connection...

THx.. but I have solved it.. actually the issue was with IP address & DNS.

Solution

So just for the sake of solution I will explain my whole setup so it will be easy to understand.

My network was set between 3 different floors & my main ISP line was on the first floor. So the router on the first floor was the main router with DHCP enabled rest of the 2 router on the second & third floor are in AP mode while the DHCP is disabled on both of them. Now what you have to do is provide a ethernet cable from the main DHCP router to the router on the second & third floor & connect the cable in the LAN port of the router on second & third floor. Now lets get the IP address setting done in the step below.

1.First I have to copy the ip address, Subnet Mask & DNS server of the main router providing the DHCP. (DNS will be provided by the ISP always copy it from the router you are using to connect to the ISP)

2.For EG the ip of the DHCP (main) router is 192.168.9.101 so now u have to manually enter the IP address of every device IE PC's & Mobiles with a sequence EG 192.168.9.102, 192.168.9.103 & so on different IP for every device with just last 3 digit change.

3.Now for default gateway in every device u will have to enter the DHCP (Main) router IP address so in this EG the default gateway will be 192.168.9.101 for every device u want to connect to your network.

4.Now in preferred DNS use 8.8.8.8 & in alternate DNS use the DNS which was given in the DHCP router in the first place which is provided by your ISP.

5.If asked Subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0.

Save the setting & you will be ready to go!!

The whole point of DHCP is so you don't have to enter ip and gateway. Something isn't working right.

The only statics should be the web admin for each ap and the main router.

You may have changed the ip of your gateway, but didn't update the DHCP server to use that subnet/gateway.

Actually when I was providing the IP & DNS manually the gateway & IP address were not the default of the DHCP server IE the default gateway was of my router to which my PC was connected & not of the DHCP router. Is there any chance I can change the default IP & DNS of the router my PC is connected to so that it can connect to the DHCP router or els will the use of a switch hub or something will make a difference?

I'd recommend finding the device that shouldn't be running DHCP and disable the DHCP server.
