I'm building my own custom PC case and I want to try and add a WiFi card similar to what most laptops use through an M.2 Slot. My motherboard does have a single M.2 Slot, however it is taken up by an SSD. If I add a wifi card like this one from amazon. Will an adapter such as this one from amazon allow the module to still function? Or in order to properly deliver WiFi connectivity, do these kinds of modules NEED to be plugged directly into the native M.2 slots on motherboards?

As a side note, the reason I don't want to use the existing M.2 SSD in the adapter and then put the WiFi card in the native M.2 slot has to do with design limitations and preferences.

Solution
The M.2 interface for your SSD is not compatible with WiFi cards. You would be best off buying a PCIe based card and using that instead of trying an adapter and getting rid of your motherboard M.2 for the SSD.
