Question Wifi card disables when connecting to a certain router

Ok so this is a very strange problem I have never had or even heard of before.

I got a new PCIE wifi adapter for my pc for when I go round a friends house with it, I can connect to my home router, I can connect to a mobile hotspot, the pcie card is fine, however, when I am round my friends house, when I try to connect, after typing in the password for the router, the wifi card disables for about 4 seconds midway through connecting, but only to that router and it's frustrating because I can not use ethernet while I am here

do you know the age of your friends router? your friends router may be a vary old wifi router that doesn't have the bands that supported under the old one. i ran into this years ago when someone had a vary old routor and their iphone refused to connect to it

It's not an old router he has maybe had it for a year, he can connect to wireless fine so I know that's no an issue, it's a very strange problem to have run in to
