wifi card in the processor

1. are the intel processors that have the wireless display that called intel WIDI or intel pro WIDI, have a wifi card in the processor itself ?

2. are the intel processors that have Intel® My WiFi Technology , have a wifi card in the processor itself ?

No, I have several devices with WiDi and they just use the standard Intel Wifi module that the computer has. Certainly not part of the processor, since on the one computer I picked that out.

Looks like that is going into Intel's SOC lineup. So one device I have that might have it, since that article is rather old, is the Atom/Silvermont style ultra low power chips, found in the Lenovo R300 HDMI computer. Not much room in those things for a discrete wifi module, so they may have used it there.

No current processors have the WiFi radio built in. Its a feature of a few motherboards, but a separate chipset. WiDI still requires the motherboard to have a Wifi Chipset built into it, but can also work with an external WiFi adaptor.

That article is old, and about a prototype that was being worked on, its not out yet, and its not a speculated feature either.

Nothing I can find that suggests they ever implemented it. So I am going to have to agree with Rogue Leader that it isn't currently in use. Probably still cheaper to have the discrete module.
