Wifi Card = No POST

Hey guys so ok when I plug in my wifi card into the pci-e slot and when i put the little four prong connector from the PSU on the wifi card it makes the motherboard just cut off but when i either dont have it in the pci-e slot and connected to the psu it posts or when i have the wifi card in the pci-e slot and NOT connected to the psu it posts. so should i just get a new wifi card or just get a usb wifi adapter.

P.S. The wifi card is from an older pre-built from gateway circa 2013. Its a Anatel or Atheros AR5B22

You should not be plugging anything from your PSU into a wifi card. I don't think that is meant for power.

Try it without plugging the psu into the card, although at this point the card might be fried (and hopefully not the motherboard)

The motherboard is not fried, but i will try that out, but why is that end on the wifi card if its not meant for the psu?
