Hi, so i just built my gaming pc and its located in my room on the 2nd floor, where as the internet router is located in the basement, and the ground floor in between the two. I can't move the router so ethernet isn't an option. Wondering what the best wifi card would be below 120$ for fast wifi (my internet is at 100Mbps dl and 10Mbps upload) for online gaming (like WoW or ESO) as well as HD media.

The internet range in my room works fine, as I get easily 70-100mbps on my Macbook Pro Retina 2015, on my 5g network so its not a deadspot or anything but I haven't been able to find the right card to take advantage of it. Don't know how my MacBook does it.

The best card is going to be one that the antenna are not blocked by the case. They sell antenna extension kits but you can get cards that have remote mounted antenna. ASUS is one of the more well known ones but is expensive.

You could also use a USB based device and mount it away from the computer with a extension cable.

The key for almost all portable devices is their antenna placement. It tends to be on the back of the screen which tends to be the optimum place. The antenna are tiny and the power output on a portable device may not be the maximum so I would suspect any good quality pci card or usb device will work very well for you.

I am surprised you get it to work that well going up 2 floors. You see lots of people asking that question here that can not get it to work. One of those mysteries of wireless and how houses are built.

Still games are not recommended on wireless you will still get small lag spikes from random interference from time to time.

Most people can't get the wireless to work so they use powerline devices but you may be the lucky guy that wireless works well from the basement.
