Wifi card with good range

PCI cards are usually better. The card you found on Newegg is a great card; however, you have four surfaces you trying to go through which might be a little much.

The higher the density of the surface the more signal strength is lost.

If you get to weak of a signal, you could try to add high-gain antennas pointing towards the router to make it work.
 


ok so while waiting for paypal transfer to get teh newegg card i decided to try a USB. so i bought a Linksys ae1000 (65$) and im still only getting one bar. its extremely annoying. so i was thinking . do you think this would help?

with an extra 16feet the signal would only have to get through 1 floor and about 20feet. is that a good idea?
 


That link did not open, but USB signal will have an issue going through 16' of cable. Any cable over 6-10' may cause an issue. I had someone move a scanner with a longer USB cable and the thing would scan once and stop. Issue was that the cable was too long, soon as I put on the original 6' cable, no issues.
 


so it wouldnt work if i got three 6' ones and added them together?

also keep in mind this is an Active usb extender.

That may work, but I can't vouch for how well as I have never used the device. From what they show though, it will be better than a standard long USB cable.

Check on USB standards on wiki or somewhere, I'm sure you will get distance limits and so forth. Just take any max range things with a grain of salt, sometimes it's the signal technically will be there but would be corrupted and weak enough to be useless.
