I agree to check the router but I will admit that I have had plenty of issues with Netgear products, especially lower-end models. I have the same exact issue except it only happens once or twice a day. Other devices on the network still work fine but my laptop will all of a sudden lose internet. For some reasons it seems that the speed starts to lag before it drops completely. Most of the time the tray icon will stay the same but sometimes it will get a little yellow triangle with an exclamation and it will say "Limited Access". The Windows Diagnostics always tell me to investigate the modem or router. In my case if I unplug the ISP modem, then the router, for at least 5...
If you know how, you should scan the wifi channels near you. Your wofo router most likely defaults to channel 6, like everyone else's router. Changing the channel of the wifi in your house to something else might solve your problems.

The Windows Diagnostics always tell me to investigate the modem or router. In my case if I unplug the ISP modem, then the router, for at least 5 seconds then plug modem in first then router I will get connected again. It always drops connection at random times. I have this issue with both the wi-fi and Ethernet. It is very rare but sometimes this will happen with another device on the network. I always pull the most bandwidth so I wonder if it might have something to do with it or with the QoS. Other people say replacing router with a higher end model solves these issues but I understand you are in a predicament. Maybe your landlord wouldn't mind if you paid for it? My dad bought a lower end Cisco router and after looking up the specs it was only rated for 3 simultaneous connections at a time and there are 6 at the moment lol.
