I have a technicolor TC8305C with internet provided by Comcast. For a few years now the wifi will occasionally lose connection to the internet. I can usually fix it pretty easily by disconnecting the coaxial cable from the router for a minute and then plugging it back in.
So far I've tried replacing the coaxial cable and using a different socket. While moving the router helped to stabilize the connection a bit it didnt totally fix the problem. I would like to know what the cause of the problem may be, could it be the router or just a problem with Comcast

Solution
While it could be a problem with Comcast, it is more likely your gateway (Technicolor TC8305C), which has a long history of problems. Do you rent your modem from Comcast or do you own it?

Start by looking HERE, which lists all Comcast approved gateways and modems. Don't worry about the number of stars for the certification as they basically give one star to all models that you can buy and three stars to all those they rent and make a ton of cash from.

If you rent it, demand a new model and consider buying one yourself to save the monthly fee.

If you own it, just buy a new one.
