Hello,

Just built a new computer. Specs are:

I5 9700k
MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC Motherboard
32 gigs of RAM
NVIDIA RTX 2060
1TB Crucial SSD

I've been having a problem with the WiFi. When the two WiFi antennas are disconnected, the WiFi works fine and is consistent (aside from low signal strength). When the antennas are connected, the WiFi acts wild with behavior including disconnecting every 5 minutes or so. I have installed the latest drivers from Intel's website. I have also installed the latest BIOS update. The motherboard has the Intel AC 9462 adapter in it. I have also tried manually uninstalling the device and reinstalling with the latest drivers. None of this helps the problem. The only solution to the problem is when I disconnect the antennas. What is going on here? Perhaps my metal case is causing poor wifi as mentioned by people in this thread here: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1040690-onboard-wifi-drops-connection/

You mention two WIFI antennas.....

As I read your post it seems that you may have a PCIe wireless network adapter installed - is that correct?

What wireless network adapter are you using - make and model?

Carefully inspect around the antennas - nothing metal there should be in contact with the case or I/O Plate. Ensure that the card itself (if there is one) is fully and firmly seated.

Also:

According to the motherboard specs (provided I correctly matched the motherboard) the motherboard has a built in WIFI network adapter.

Ensure that only one network adapter (wired or wireless ) is enabled. It could be that you have two wireless network adapters enabled.

Run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt. Post the results.
