WiFi extender or powerline

Hello,

My family is looking to upgrade from BT's 76mbps infinity 2 fibre to Virgin's 350mbps fibre. Currently, I am using my desktop with TP Link AV500 which has a 10/100 port. As the hub is in my parents’ room, I am unable to connect directly to it, hence the use of the power line. Would it be worthwhile buying a powerline or an extender? The options: powerline, extender

I’m thinking the extender would provide me with WiFi and the Ethernet port on it would allow me to connect my pc to it.

Will either of these provide me close to the 350mbps? I fully understand the factors affecting the connection, I live in a Victorian era townhouse btw, so I am not expecting to exceed or even match the promised 350mbps, I just would like to know if either adapter would be suitable to get over 250/300mbps? If not, what other powerlines/alternative methods would you suggest?

FYI, I have a rather bad wifi card in my pc, but I may get an AC Wifi USB dongle to help with wifi, but I’d rather use eithernet.

Thanks.

I'd go with powerline, and get a pair of AV2-1000/1200 to get the full benefit of faster speed and better interference reduction, such as the product that you linked -- so you need two, but don't use the old AV500.

The particular model extender you linked uses a wireless connection (not powerline) when in extender mode so will be far less effective with higher latency.

You will get great speeds, although not sure if quite 350Mbps. Take a look HERE and the other related pages for a good real world idea of what speeds you should get.
