I am renting a room im this house, located first floor. The wifi signal is extremely weak. I have tried ethernet cable 30m, but my pc's ethernet is broken or something. Keeps showing ethernet cable. I've been trying to fix it to no avail. (If you have a solution, please advise too!)

I am looking into wifi adapter or extender for my laptop now. Does wifi adapter really impeove my wifi signal? I have a 300mbps wifi. What should I be getting in this situation?

If you have weak WiFi (few bars) then it is unlikely that an extender will help. The idea of the extender is to pickup the WiFi signal in an area with a decent signal and pass it along with a stronger signal, thus giving you a decent signal at your location. It is hard to turn a weak signal into a decent signal.

A new adapter will only help if the one in your laptop is faulty or has a bad antenna.

I would consider using the Ethernet you have putting an access point at the end. This assumes the Ethernet works, which it seems you have not confirmed. The access point will give you a strong signal in your room, add some security (depending on the access point's features), and you can take it with you when you move. There are many options at different price points.
