I am moving to a 4 bedroom house 3,000 square feet with two floors and the interior walls are thin. What WIFI extensions/mesh do you recommend? I would have a 55 Megabits per second download speed and a 10 Mbps upload speed.

As stated you want to use any mesh system as your last choice not your first. If you are really insistent on mesh just go buy orbi boxes for every room and admire how pretty they are and ignore any performance issues.

If the walls are actually thin you might get by with a single centrally located router. Your internet speeds are pretty slow so you might get good enough signal strength to get your full capacity with one router.

Something with a number in the 1750-1900 range is the best performance for the cost right now.

If this is not good enough you then need to add more radio sources. The next step would be to place a AP on the second floor. A AP is best connected to the main router via a ethernet cable. If that is not...

What mesh? None, unless you have failed with all other wired technologies. Ethernet cable, MoCA, powerline, then finally mesh.

If this is not good enough you then need to add more radio sources. The next step would be to place a AP on the second floor. A AP is best connected to the main router via a ethernet cable. If that is not a option you then consider MoCA if you have tv coax on both floors. Moca can get gigabit speeds so it will never botleneck your intenet. If you do not have coax you then consider the powerline units. You want to look for a AV2-1000 or AV2-2000 unit. They are slower than moca but still a lot faster than your internet. You can buy units that have a built in AP in the remote powerline unit. It is not as good as a actual AP or a router used as a AP but it is simpler and cheaper.

This solves the coverage for most people. If it is still not good enough you continue to add AP in other rooms. The least number that will cover is best because they interfere with each other. Both Moca and powerline units act as a switch so you can connect mulitple and they all form one network.
