Hi, I want to set up a router at our shooting range which is in the woods with no internet connection and very poor cell service.

I want to use an app called Practiscore for scoring our competition shoots. It requires multiple tablets to be able to sync their scores to a master tablet.

I want to use something like a pocket router with a battery or hooked to a car outlet.

How do I set a router up for this, and will the Android tablets just connect to it even without an internet signal?

Thank you,
Matt.

Solution
Just setup any router. They can all work without the WAN (Internet) connection. The specific equipment you need depends on the distance, as battery operated equipment (like pocket routers) tends to use very lower power radios. For a full output router, you might be better off getting a regulated 12V supply if the router used 12V DC, or buying a deep cycle battery and using a sine wave inverter to provide 120V AC.

Whatever you choose, try it at home first. Buy from a store with a customer friendly return policy in case the design doesn't work.
