Question Wifi not being shown

Recently purchased a pre-built pc. However the wifi adapter isn't being shown anywhere. I'd use an Ethernet cable if I wanted to however I cannot do so. The router stays mainly upstairs and my PC stays downstairs. I had to go buy another adapter just to get on the internet and play games. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Motherboard is an ASRock Z490 Steel Legend

Realtek 8812BU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC

Windows 10 is up to date. I've tried redownloading many updates but nothing seems to work ;(

Could it be that my adapter might be faulty? What should I do?

Unless you installed a wifi adapter on the motherboard, it does not appear to ship with one.

Yep. That is correct. It has places to install such, but not included (purchased separately).

Retail motherboards with built-in WiFi will usually have the word "WiFi" in the model name eg. "ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 WiFi"
