To have WiFi in my PC, do I only need to find a supporting Motherboard and a CPU ?

If those two HW components support WiFi, then would the operating system automatically recognize the WiFi capability?

As USAFRet mentioned a USB WiFi dongle will work fine. Before my current rig I used a TPlink/PCIE adapter. The plug in board seems to work better and is stronger at the same speed settings. You can use the antenna onboard or remotely mounted on a stand to improve reception.

I'm familiar with the USB option though I prefer the WiFi to be integrated in the MB.

Would a MB & CPU which support WiFi are sufficient?
The OS would recognize it?
It would come with the relevant WiFi drivers that need to be installed.

Requiring WiFi built in to the motherboard limits your motherboard choices.
Most desktop motherboards do not have built in WiFi.
