WiFi performing ALOT better than Powerline

I purchased the TP-LINK AV200 Powerline Ethernet Adapter Starter Kit, because it is (apparently) better than my D-LINK DWA-160 XTREME N DUAL BAND USB.

Doing a speed test using the wireless USB dongle gave me results of 31/1.5 Mbps.
Doing a speed test using the wired powerline adapter (200Mbps capable) gave me 0.30 Mbps download before timing out.

I want to use ethernet to connect my PC because it is much more reliable, as well as I don't get wireless interference. the wireless USB literally gives me spikes of 8000 ping.

To my knowledge I have installed the Powerline adapters correctly as well as trying multiple ethernet cables and multiple wall AC plugs.

Anyone know of any fixes?

The problem is powerline is really just another form of radio that uses wires rather than wireless. It is susceptible to interference from anything that is also connected to the electrical wires.

Make sure you have the powerline unit plugged directly into the walls outlets.

Like wireless it is extremely hard to find the true cause of issues. Although extreme what you can do is turn all all the circuit breakers for everything except the circuits powering the powerline units. You also want to unplug anything that is not critical to your testing that is also plugged into circuits you have left turned on. Hopefully at this point it works otherwise the powerline units have a issue or your computer itself is causing the...

If it works you then start to turn things on until you find the problem device. Unfortunately what are you going to do if it turns out it is your refrigerator causing the issue.

I suppose you could try the newer av2 series stuff (these are the ones that claim 600/1200m). These use the ground wire in addition to the hot for signal so sometime they work better.
