Hey, folks! I have a TG862 router from Arris, provided by my ISP. I needed to change my desktop from my old bedroom in my apartment, but the internet rig stayed there, and the network cable that was connected to my computer too. So I bought a USB WiFI adapter from D-Link, a generic one from ebay with the Ralink 5370 chipet and now I have a PCI-Express card from Edimax, but any of them work with my WiFi. I mean, they connect, but I get an internet connection for like 10 seconds and then it's gone for good on my desktop (note that the wifi broadcasting keeps alive). I searched the web for this problem and I ended up attaching a DSL-2730R, from D-Link, which was laying arounf in here, and using it as a router, leaving the gateway function to the modem provided by my ISP. It doesn't work really well, because I can connect to it and use it, but the speed is really low and sometimes unstable, even though the router supports b, g and n type connections. Every other device I have in here works flawlessly, like my mother's notebook and 3 smartphones. Anyone have a clue on how to solve this? Thanks in advance
Btw, I'm using Windows 8.1, and an AMD based computer with an ASUS motherboard, if that's important. If needed, I can give the exact specification of this computer.
