Hi

I have slowdown when browsing the web (google chrome - dell xps 15 - windows 10) occurs every few hours, lasts about 15 min.

Blue circle in chrome just seems to spin and every pages takes 2-3 min to load if at all.

Ping seems to go from 20 to 200/400+ during this time and sometimes not even ping and return an error, this ping gradually returns to normal over a 5-10 minute period then the internet works fine again.

Happens over different wifi networks with my laptop, other laptops / tv / mobile are all unaffected on the same network when this issue is happening.

I have tried virus/malware scans, using different browsers, disabling firewall etc.

Thanks

Could be either Chrome or perhaps the wireless network adapter drivers on the laptop.

Update your post to include make, model, and hardware specs for the laptop.

Take a look in Reliability History/Manager. Try to find any error codes, warnings, or even information events that correspond with the times of the slowdowns.

You could also use Task Manager/Resource Monitor to see if some application or bottleneck is occurring during slowdowns.

If nothing found or noted then reinstall Chrome.

If the slowdowns continue then go the wireless adapter's manufacturer's website. Download, reinstall, and reconfigure the driver as applicable to your network.

See PC specs below

  • Chrome has been reinstalled still occurs (happens in firefox and internet explorer as well)
  • Killer wireless drivers have been updated and reinstalled no change
  • nothing seems to be occuring on reliability history other than this event that happens everyday and doesn't correspond with slowdowns necessarily on the timings >
