Wifi really slow

Where I live Wi-Fi is pretty crap my pc shows it is reviving 7mbs but what ever i download it only gets to about 700kbs I'm using wired but wireless is quicker im using msi m3 mob what is going on how do i fix my internet it EE

Some more information would help, do you have any control of the wireless router/APs, any control over other users, or is it a dorm free for all? What wireless band, and what model equipment involved if you know?

As in 2.4GHz or 5GHz and the channels. If you have no ability to change anything, then you need to talk to someone who does.

It can be either depending on what your computer supports, but there is a lot more interference usually on 2.4GHz since there are only three non-overlapping channels (1, 6, and 11). Download a wifi analyzer app on your phone and use it to detect the wireless signals around you -- the more there are the more interference, the worse your wireless will perform. Also, the more users on your wireless the worse it will perform.
