as i mentioned above, ( i have already looked for existing questions, but i didn't really find nothing similiar) i'd like to know if would be possible to utilize a repeater AC750 RE200 ( with an ethernet port available ) as "bridge" and acess point at the same time, i mean :

would, the repeater,be able to connecting into my computer through ethernet and, at the same time, repeate it's signal for other devices as it normally would??? or it will stop its function as repeater to bridgin it through ethernet?
maybe i would need a router for this? could you write in case, if possible, any example of any router with simliar wireless performance( and of curse, the "repeater" function)?

any info :
Router radio connection type ( main signal ) : 802.11N
i couldnt use any type of powerline due to electricity problem ( i suppose they have to stay in the same home)

my knowledge about networking are really poor, so (until now) im considering routers/repeaters characteristics relying on its performance per dbi like the scheme below ( from the ac750re200)

2.4ghz
270M: -70dBm@10% PER
130M: -70dBm@10% PER
108M: -73dBm@10% PER
54M: -75dBm@10% PER
11M: -86dBm@8% PER
6M: -92dBm@10% PER
1M: -94dBm@8% PER

it is right? or i would consider others characteristics? im making this discuss/question cause im attempted to buy a repeater but i dont know if it will serve to solve my connection problem
im sorry for my bad english, this is not my native language.
thanks for the help in advance. 😀

Solution

Should be fine.

I use an RE210 myself for my shed, you have to set one of the two bandwidths on the repeater to be the main speed to your router repeating (i.e. 5ghz band) leave the 2.4ghz for phone and such to connect to the repeater, and plug the pc with a wire into the RE210 device, this make the 5GHZ the Wi-Fi link up to router and I get 22MB down and 5 MB Up and my shed is about 100 ft. from my router and works very well. if you need more help setting your configs ask away., but pretty simple, ( I use a different ID name, set repeat bandwidth to 5ghz, left 2.4 ghz to be used, plugged pc... done.)

Thanks for the answer given to me 😛
unfortunately, i'm not sure if the main router is 5ghz or 2.4ghz, could i still use, in case, the same bandwidths for the pc and devices? ( 2.4ghz) Or it will block one of the 2 functions?
So with this setting i could use the pc through eth and connect my others devices in via wireless right?
thank you very much for the answer 😛

if the router only has 1 band (2.4) (there are no 5ghz band only routers, if they have 5ghz they have 2.4ghz as well
then just set the process to connect to that bandwidth, the only difference will be

Router <<-- *2.4ghz*-WIFI---->> RE210 <<--*5GHZ*-WIFi-->> Other Wifi devices
instead of
Router <<-- *5ghz*-WIFI---->> RE210 <<--*2.4GHZ*-WIFi-->> Other Wifi devices

in the case of your PC it wont matter either way its connected directly to the RE210

Im sorry for my negligence, but i still cant figure out one step.

"Router <<-- *2.4ghz*-WIFI---->> RE210 <<--*5GHZ*-WIFi-->> Other Wifi devices"

I think im gonna use this configuration, but i have 1 questions.

RE210 <<--*5GHZ*-WIFi-->> Other Wifi devices

in this step, when it will repeat as 5ghz band to other devices, the 2.4ghz ones will still be able to get the signal ?

And...i think thats all.
thanks for the info and everything.

in case would be impossible, what could i use instead of this model to solve my problem?

if you configure the repeater to connect to the router using the 5ghz, then yes you will have the 2.4ghz band left to use for Wi-Fi provided by repeater
if you configure the repeater to connect to the router using the 2.4ghz, then the repeater will have the 5ghz band left to provided to devices.

the repeater can connect either way to router but when it does, it can only provide the other band for its local Wi-Fi

the repeater IS dual band... even if your router is not.

So..2,4ghz devices can't connect to a 5ghz bandwidths. ......so what I should do to repeate the same band (2,4) at the same frequency? ?
Router >>>> 2,4 >>>>>> repeater >>>>>2,4>>>>> other devices
Just to be sure that alll devices will be able to connect even the old ones. .
Thanks for the patience

if you leave the default settings (not setting a locked 2.4 or 5ghz band upstream,/downstream then the repeater will work with both bands in both directions as you showed.
