Wifi repeater Dual band on a single band source?

Hi
I have a DSL Modem wifi router with 2.4ghz band (single) and I want to add a repeater tplink Wifi to extend the network, will the dual band repeater be any good compared to a single band one? Or the repeater distribution channels are limited by the source which is a single band?

This would be a good read as well as this. Effectively a dual band repeater will receive signals off on radio and the send radio will send/extend the signal to your destination. Can you send a link to the repeater you're looking at?

if your router is 2.4GHZ and your repeater is 2.4/5ghxz, then set repeater to connect to source on the 2.4ghxz band and offer to connect to devices to the 5ghz. (yes that means you loose 2.4ghz for repeater connectivity)
