WiFi Signal Strength is 1-2 Bars in my Room

Hey, I recently moved into a new room in my house, but this room does not get a very good WiFi connection. I was wondering whether to get a WiFi Range Extender as I use different items which use WiFi, for example my phone for just social media and YouTube and my PC to play games. Or should I get a Powerline Adapter?

If anyone could reply with a suggestion on what I should do, that would be great, thank you.

Powerline works well for most people but it is dependent on the quality of the electrical wires. The newer units based on av2 like the 1200 units.

You would then use a second router running as a AP plugged into the powerline to extend the wireless signal. There are powerline units with a AP built into the remote unit but I have never used those.
Powerline tends to be much better for games but most only have ethernet ports so you would need a AP to generate the WiFi signal plugged into the powerline.

Number of bars means little. First companies..like apple.. cheat on this to make it look like their devices get better signal than others. Next it isn't so much the signal levels it is the signal quality. If you would have no interference at all a very weak signal will work as well as a strong signal. Many times the interference can be so strong even the best signals can have issues..

A WiFi extender does nothing if you place it in the same room. If your PC gets poor signal the extender will get poor signal and retransmit it making it even worse. The optimum placement tends to be about 1/2 between where the extender can get good signal levels but still deliver enough signal to the remote end.

I would not use wifi extenders unless you have tried all the other options. They have too many variables involved to know if you will get good performance. Pretty much you think of them as a last resort where any signal is better than none.

Thanks for the reply, The internet in my room is quite bad and I mainly game, should I get a Powerline Adapter and Then I can upgrade my Internet, so that it reaches certain areas of the house?
