Wifi slow, ethernet fast

Hi there,
This question has probably been asked a million times, but basically my wifi has been REALLY slow recently, even when i'm close to it. My downstream is a solid 30mbps through ethernet, and has been the same through wifi until a couple of days ago. I've used my s6 as well as my macbook air to test the current signal, and the results are similar: ~3-6 mbps, and it doesn't speed up even if i am right next to it (no-one else was using it at the time). Any ideas as to what is happening?!?!

change channel on the router

or power the router off and back on

Yeah, I've tried both already; no success though :/

or borrow a router from some one to double check
