Wifi speed issues and ping

So I moved to this new place for 2 weeks, the only internet provider is buckeye broadband and I had to get a 10mbs connection, I'm using a wifi repeater to connect my pc with ethernet, speeds where around 9mbs and ping was 50 but router was giving problems so I decided to do a factory reset, now I'm getting 5mbs and around 280 ping in speed test, this doesn't suppose a problem in normal internet usage but the online gaming experience is just awful and unplayable, any advice?

Your isp can help you better than us here in this , in detecting what is the problem and fixing it. They may even have access to your router and set it , if it is settings problem.
