I've looked into this on multiple threads but I still can't find an answer.
I'm working for a lady that has pretty good U-verse internet from Att. Her kids are having issues with the internet on their desktops.
The desktops are located downstairs from the router and get horrible internet. Barely 1.5 mb/s download and .5mb/s upload speed.
But when I am on my laptop in the same room not three feet away, I get 20mb/s download and 2mb/s upload. The pings are the same. Their phones work fine downstairs, and their smart TV can easily steam Netflix. It seems to be isolated to their computers.
The hardware is different for sure, their desktops aren't as good hardware as my laptop, but I don't see that affecting the internet speed that dramatically. We are all connecting via wifi.
I thought maybe I needed a range extender for downstairs, but I if that were the case I would assume my laptop would be trash too.
Is it a bandwidth issue? Does my laptop just have higher priority and suck the internet from them? Or a hardware issue either on their computers or the router? I've upgraded the router to the most recent version from ATT. Pls help me help them.
