Hi,

Can the distance from your computers wifi to the router alone affect whether or not you can play online games? Ever since I've had to move the router from my room to downstairs I disconnect from every online game within a matter of 10 seconds.

Nothing else is affecting it when it comes to PING etc.. thats all fine. My wifi strength is sitting at 3 bars now, so can wifi strength/distance really affect this as my internet in general has always been super good until I had to move it.

Thanks

Yes but not just because of the signal levels.

If you were all alone in the world with no other electronics in your house then you could get almost the same quality and speed from a low level signal as a high level one.

What is happening is at lower signal levels the end device have more trouble detecting the real data from say junk signals coming from say your neighbor who is also using wireless. At higher levels it will see more of the good signals. Now even at maximum levels you can still have problems if the interfering signal is also very strong.
