My router has worked very well and has provided great WiFi connection throughout my house for about 2-3 years, however just recently the WiFi no longer reaches as far as it always has. For instance there are only certain spots in my bedroom (My bedroom is on the 2nd floor and the router is in the basement) that i receive an internet connection. It will go from 3 bars for random amounts of time to barely 1 bar, then nothing. I've reset the modem and router and all that jazz, I'm just wondering if this is a common problem that routers have? Could it possibly be dying out on me and I simply need to buy a new one?

*Edit* I'm thinking it could perhaps just be my phone because I can connect to the WiFi with my PC just fine and stream 1080p videos with ease.
Will add "iPhone 6" to the tags.

Assumed you already checked all devices.
PC will almost always have a more powerful wifi than a phone.
Test the phone right next to the router just to make sure everything is ok.

To change channels you need to use a web browser to log into your router.
Probably best to lookup the online manual for this. Should also tell you how to change channels. They're all different so I can't tell you click for click.
Could be a dying router, or interference.
2.4Ghz only has 3 real channels that don't overlap, 1, 6 & 11.
And other devices in range (like your neighbours wifi router & devices) will cause interference.

Try changing channels to one of the 3 above and see what happens.

Wow, thank you for such a fast response. I updated it with more info that may help. I'm completely clueless when it comes to WiFi, how would I go about changing the channels?
