I am looking for a device that will connect to an existing wifi network and allow me to connect ethernet to a switch. I understand that you can do bridging with some devices, but it seems like it would be really complicated. The selection is very limited and has very mixed reviews which throw me off.

This device seems perfect, except that it does not allow me to use my own antenna for further range.

Does such an item exist at a good price point? Being able to use my own antenna is the goal here. Thank you for any help!

You should be looking for a range extender or bridge.
A device that will extend your network over a wireless network to a cabled device.
There are many such devices that can do this for not too much money.
Check this one for instance: http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WA801ND-Wireless-300Mbps-Repeater/dp/B004UBU8IE/ref=sr_1_43?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1415351296&sr=1-43&keywords=range+extender

TP-Link devices are pretty decent they work well and don't cost too much.
There should be more similar devices you could check out at their site.
