About a week ago Comcast had an outage for two days, after the two days all services came back up, but were extremely slow, around 3/10 of my initial connection speed. I called over a Technician, he fixed everything - almost everything, my Wifi ever since the outage has dropped from a rate of 44MB/s to 2MB/s and my upload has gone from 26MB/s to 13MB/s. This is a huge issue as I am constantly playing video games, streaming videos, and music, all at once. I have troubleshooted using Windows Troubleshooter as well as HP Support Assistant. I have also uninstalled my network drivers and reinstalled brand new editions, after that not working I even tried a system restore. Nothing I've tried has worked, when the Tech was helping me fix everything, we tested my speed online using first the Wifi, which was unbearably slow, then with the Ethernet which is unbelievably fast - 98MB/s Down with 28MB/s Up. I need help, badly, as it is difficult to have to wait 10+ minutes just to download a 100MB file. My current speeds stand at a measly 2MB/s Down and 14MB/s Up.

Solution
Generally, your ISP (Comcast) will only work with and fix the wired connection.
WiFi inside your house...that's all on you.

So...if Comcast had issues recently:
1. Reboot the modem and/or router.
2. Reset the modem and/or router back to factory spec.

If the signal coming into the house is as advertised ("98MB/s Down with 28MB/s Up")...then all is good according to Comcast.

I've done a reboot and done a reset. I believe it has something to do with my Wireless card, because before all of this it was fine, Now it says the speed is 72MB/s but when I test the actual speed it ends up being really slow.

What happens with a WiFi device right next to the router?
And where are you testing this speed at?

I've tried having my Phone next to it and it's fast. Same with the only other laptop in the home. But my PC refuses to have a fast connection no matter how close I get.
I'm testing the speeds at speedtest.net and speedtest.comcast.net

Just last night my living room was rearranged and the Modem was unplugged and idle for around an hour, but did not move more than 10 inches from it's original position.

If a laptop next to the router gets near the advertised speed, and the desktop does not...I'd suspect drivers on the desktop. Or a loose WiFi adapter.

Hmm something to consider... do you have neighbors close enough for overlapping wireless networks? During the outage they may have changed channels and now overlap yours.

Make sure the channel selection on your router is 'auto' and reboot it... see if that helps.

I'll have to take a look. Last time I opened my PC was about 5-6 months ago, so it's likely that is the culprit. I will answer back as soon as I can.
