<Desktop> Jumps from 730k up to its rated 100mbs (briefly) then floats back down again, over and over about 4 cycles per minute. Mostly it stays under 1mps and once it jumps up to 107mbs it floats down to 730k again. Endless cycle. It is plugged into the back of desktop. It has done this with all my USB flash drives.

Trying to transfer files from desktop to laptop using flash drive.

Using a January 2022 rebuild-

Z690 UD DDR4
Win 10
i9 processor
64gb RAM
2 x M.2 1TB drives

Bios is set correctly and Gigabyte says this mobo supports up to USB 3.2 gen 2x2.

Thanks!

Use Task Manager and Resource Monitor (use both but only one at a time) to observe system performance.

First while not transferring files to the Lexar drive. Just have it plugged in. Watch for awhile and let the host computer stabilize.

Second, leaving the tool window open to watch, then transfer files as you normally do.

Watch for what changes when the speeds go up and down.

What resource(s) are being used, to what extent (%), and what app/tool, etc. is using the resource.

Note: you can sort the columns by clicking the small arrowhead in the column header. May help if the values and order keep jumping about.
