Will 1080ti run decently with i3 2120

So basically i have an i3 2120 cpu and a 960 sc 2GB, i plan on upgrading the whole pc, right now i can either get a 1080ti and get a i7 8700k with a z370 mobo and 16GB ram later (about 3 to 4 months) or i can do the opposite, getting the cpu and motherboard and ram and 3 or 4 months later getting the gpu.
Im basically 50/50 in that decision as of now, need to know if it will bottleneck too much, it will be used for gaming, fortnite, csgo, rainbow six siege, gta V and the upcoming cod.

You'd be crazy to get the card first. One, there's no reason why the card should be purchased first, it's not like there won't be any cards for sale in the future.

Two, worst case scenario, your 960 can get you by no matter which computer you have.

Three, with a dual core and hyperthreading, you're already too far behind on the CPU curve to worry about videocards.

Four, by the time you are ready to buy a videocard you will have a lot more options for the same money.

yeah i was expecting that, thing is i got a really good deal on that 1080ti so i dont really know which way to move, i was supposed to buy the cpu and mobo and ram in a week but then this opportunity came by.

I see. This 1080ti purchase idea just happened today as I was supposed to get the CPU and mobo and ram in about a week or so, the 1080ti is from a local store who had it in a display pc and since I'm friends with the owner he will sell it to me for cheap, so I'm kind of stuck here, the CPU and ram and mobo will still be more or less the same price in about 3 months whereas the 1080ti won't be as cheap as I can get it right now.

New 1080Tis are going fairly cheap atm but if price is significant and you trust the seller, i cant see no reason to get it now.

Yeah, It's from a local tech store, it's from a display pc which I'm pretty sure wasn't even turned on, everything was just chilling, also it's 400 euros so it's not an opportunity you come by every day.

It's a huge saving so the compromise will be worth it in the end. Money saved can get more ram, 16GB minimum for a card like this and maybe an SSD or 144Hz monitor.

Already have a 144hz monitor, also definitely getting an SSD after getting everything, the ram will be g.skill tridentZ 3000mhz 16GB with i7 8700k and z370 gaming pro carbon ac.

Other niggling thing is the OS. Are you buying new license or are you going to transfer? If transfer, is your current pc custom built or is it oem? If oem, is it a corporate license from like HP/Dell or custom oem or retail?

Well, a massive discount is not something you'll see every day. So that is a good reason to get the card.

I already have an 80plus gold 750W PSU and ill use the 1080ti for these following 3 to 4 months and then get the cpu+mobo+ram. Also from what I know, the 1080ti won't be discontinued right? If so it will most likely not drop a lot in price and this one I'm thinking of getting is cheap.

Yeah, I'm not buying a new license, I'm transferring, I already have a retail copy of Windows 10 which we bought for a business desktop, my current pc is OEM from hp so I will have to use the retail copy once again.

Ok then, so should I still go with the 1080ti or go with the cpu+mobo+ram, and then buy the GPU 4 months later? Worst case scenario if I go with the 1080ti, I can try it install the drivers and check out if I get an fps boost on the games I currently play and if not ill switch back to the 960.
