I am currently using 1 stick of 8gb ddr3 but I have an extra slot for another 8 if I need it, my current system is:

Cpu - AMD Athlon x4 880k

Gpu: Evga GTX 1050ti

Ram: Adata 8gb DDR3

Will it make a difference to my pc to have an extra stick of ram? I mostly use my pc for gaming but any noticeable increase is enough for me as it's only around 25 pound for a matching stick of ram

Well, if you're noticing you're running out of RAM then yes, going to 16GB will help.

Have a game running and check Task Manager to see how much RAM you're using. If you're close to 8GB then installing more RAM can help. If not, you're probably fine.
