Hello I have been recently trying to record game play but it just lags everytime i play it back. So my question is will getting a second 1TB hdd help me record games?
Specs:
i5 4690k
Nvidia geforce gtx 770
WD black 1 TB 7200RPM hdd
8 GB ram
Intel Gaming 5 Mobo

Thanks for the help

more likely more ram will help, you're using shadowplay right?

Of course if you're playing on the drive you're recording to, this will be an issue too.

This is the issue with software based encoding solutions. sure a FASTER storage drive might help (like an SSD) but i suspect the real issue is Ram; and you might need to turn down the resolution you're recording at.

Sidenote: this is part of why software encoding solutions like shadowplay are inferior to hardware encoding solutions like a capture card. there is zero cpu or gpu overhead with a capture card. and typically they buffer well enough that the recording is smooth, and there is no real need for more ram either.

Record to an SSD. SSD's are so much faster than even the fastest of the hard drives.

I think that tells the story pretty well.
