Will 2 sticks of ram work on a mobo with 8 slots?

So I built a pc on pcpartpicker.com and after looking at it a few times I realized that the ram I selected is 2 sticks at 16gb each and the motherboard has 8 slots. Will this even work? Pc part picker says all the parts are compatible but I'm not sure...

So even if I have 6 slots open it wouldn't cause any harm? Or make programs run slower? Sorry to be a pain this is all new to me and I can't find any info anywhere with someone running 2 sticks of ram on a mobo with 8 slots.

Yes it will work, assuming your motherboard supports 16GB ram sticks. Refer to your motherboard's manual to determine which slots to use when using only 2 sticks.
