Will 2080 run 1440p 144hz

Hello guys, have a question for a 2080 owners.
Ive had gtx 1070 and 1080p monitor and cant say it works very good. There was plenty of moments and locations in games where my framerate drops below 60.
Now i have 1440p 144hz monitor, and i know that 2080 would not let me play at 144fps maxed-out graphics like total uncompromise
The main question is would 2080 at 1440p works like 1070 at 1080p? Mostly it has a high framerate, but in games there are some locations where fps drops critically, and there is no bench videos that show us that places.

I have an 8700k with 16 gigs of ram and there is no bottleneck at all. Like i said, it is a hard places in games that drops fps below 60, but average fps is pretty good

Dont get me wrong, its not <60fps all the time but sometime in certain games and certain locations
And it isnt what i want from videocard, so i wanna be sure that 2080 have enough power to perform uncompromise 60 (72 actually with 1/2 vsync at hard AAA projects) and 144 with not ultra, but high settings where it needs (FPS games mostly)
Youtube videos cant tell me that, so i wanna see some owners of that card with games experience not only by benchmarks, who can tell about all the nuances

I've only had my 2080 (along with my i7 9700k) for 5 days now and thus haven't played too many games yet, but I have played Ace Combat 7 at max on 2k and have never really dipped below 150. Only when there's a huge amount of effects on screen does it dip and even then only for a couple seconds and never lower than 130 or so, which if not for the FPS counter I wouldn't have noticed. On Paladins I never drop below 144 even with everything on high and supersampling at 200%. On 7 Days to Die I have everything at max (except depth of field, looks bad in my opinion) and I hover around 100 fps. Sometimes I get stutters while it renders new areas but that's a RAM/HDD issue (and the game being very unoptimized of course).

Overall I'm very pleased with its performance, even have my old 1080p monitor hooked up to it as well. It should be able to do 72 fps 2k easily on just about every game out there at the moment. High settings at 144 for most FPS games seems realistic in my experience. Do you have any specific games in mind, though?

Im mostly interesting in modern projects, that can show today's real perfomance and future perspective, so if someone can tell the real, i mean, the REAL states of deals in 2017/2018's releases like
Shadow of the tomb raider, AC's, battlefields, destiny, maybe division 1 and 2 beta, anthem etc. that would be nice
I mean, you cant tell that game works fine after running only benchmark or walking on one location

But we are talking about 144 hz i guess?
1070 can perform even 100fps at some games even at 1440p, but at the same time it can drops below 60 and that is not playable for me and i believe for most of those who have 144hz monitors

Dont tell me that witcher 3 on high settings at 1440p works at least 60 fps in fights?
And let me tell you, Novigrad is not the most hard location in this game at all

You are looking at 'average' fps, but im talking about minimal, i know that average and max fps will be nice to 144hz monitor with 2080 and with 1070 (with correct settings,(i mean, very low)), but i want to know how far down can fps drops at high/ultra settings.
1070 for me is not a very good decision for those who checking fps all the time like me. Id say it 'playable', but not for everyone

Yes - 144hz. That is in no way related to getting 144fps in all games. You might be able to do that with a 2080ti.

On the rare occasion W3 fell below 60 it was 55 and not noticable.

Seems like your very specific desires and obsession with framerate points to a 2080ti and a max cpu overclock.

55fps at monitor with 144hz is not noticable?
Again. We are talking about 72 fps at 1440p on maxed-out graphics with 1\2 vsync in AAA-projects like witcher, and 144fps at games where it needs with high settings (FPS mostly), that rtx 2080 probably (thats why i opened this thread) can perform. Why are you talking about 60fps?
There is no way 1070 is enough for 1440p 144hz, for 60hz it probably can run, but not stable 60.

Well, I do it every day and love it :). Why are you talking about 72fps? No one should run vsync or 1/2 and put up with the input lag. If you are susceptible to noticing tearing from the refresh/fps disconnect then get a gsync or adaptive sync certified monitor - then it just doesnt matter.

Edit: sorry I missed the vsync comment earlier. That changes the whole discussion. Vsync induces lag, stuttering, and wildly swinging framerates. It’s a primitive attempt to solve a problem but was all we had back in the day. That’s not the case now. I don’t notice changes in framerate because of gsync. Having had it for several years, would not give up gsync/adaptive or freesync for any reason.

72fps for 144hz vsync is a good decision for AAA-single games where u dont really care that much about the input lag and your gpu isnt power enough to deliver 144fps. But in shooters it should be turned off yea.
Maybe you dont notice 55fps at 144 because you have gsync?

yeah gsync is a good feature and i hope my monitor will be compatible. 72fps is practically the same smooth as 144, because like 1 frame stays on 2 updates of monitor, that deletes tearing, so 1\2 vsync can help if you havent gsync and cant reach 144
But for now i cant buy 2080ti and my monitor cant run gsync, so 2080 is a good decision. I just wanna know that 2080 will NEVER drop my framerate below 72 in one games, and 144 in other (the second condition is pretty unreal, but at least approximately)

Yea thats what im talking about, results comparable to 1070 at full hd. So overall i wont really get higher fps by spending more than 1k lol
Maybe its too early for 1440p 144hz
