Will 9500GT or 9600GT work on my Dell Dimension 8400?

hi. i have a dell dimension 8400, I bought it about 5 years ago... i was wondering if a video card like 9500GT or 9600GT or anything similar will work on my pc.

the pc is an Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.0 GHz. a PCI Express x16 slot, but most of the video cards i found are PCI Express 2.0 and i dont know this will work. and the power supply from my pc are 350W, but i have no idea how much power supply a 9500GT needs.

i'm currently using
Graphics Card Name: ATI Radeon X800 XT
Graphics Processor / Vendor: ATI Radeon X300

Yes, PCIe2 is is backwards compatible PCIe1.

The only concern is your power supply...check to see how many amps it has on the 12v rail.

Usually, a Dell 300/305watt PSU can run a 9500GT or 9600GT with an adapter, but your 350 PSU is 5 years old and might have worn capacitors.

Due to the age of your PSU, I would only recommend the 9500GT.

However, you might want to consider the HD 4670 which is more powerful than the 9500GT, and shouldn't put too much stress on the PSU. It uses slightly less than 50w. The HD 4650 is an alternative and I believe it is slightly more powerful than the 9500GT.

the 4670 uses less power than 9600. a 4670 is equal to 9600 in performance ... maybe weaker in some games.
