will a 120hz monitor work for me?

I play CSGO a lot and I want to get really good at it, which I am improving, but I want to step up my display from a 32" Flat screen TV to a 120hz monitor. I run about a constant 117, 118, 119, and 120 FPS most of the time. Does this mean I can get the 120hz monitor? I wanted a 144hz to begin with but I'm not sure about all this. I also used to get over 200 frames on CSGO but then I got an autoexec file and after that I ran the 120. But I changed my graphics settings to all the way to low and still play with 120fps. There's absolute no difference if I play with my graphics settings high or low. Still getting that 120.

From a technical standpoint. Buying a 120 Hz display won't make you any better. However, it will likely have a lower input delay than your TV set. The higher refresh rate will allow for smoother movements, if someone is peeking around a corner quickly, it won't be a blur, it will be sharp and it will allow you to aim more accurately. This is because on a 60 Hz panel, no matter what the response time is- you will see some degree of ghosting during fast motion. It's different from our eyes because we react to movement, we're no a display that's updating every X ms. However, with that said. It's mostly placebo but it might be easier to improve, though there are gamers that play at 40 FPS on a old 60 Hz panel and still manage to climb the ladder to the top, so definitely preference rather than easier to learn if you will. Buying a 144 Hz monitor might be a better option because there are more to choose from, as this is currently the competetive gaming norm. I know that getting a 120hz Monitor will not improve my gameplay or skill, but I just want one. So running at a 120fps I will be able to have a 120hz or a 144hz monitor? My budget ranges from $100 to $200. I hope the monitor is what it is worth.
