Hi, I have an old Dell unit that has a core 2 Duo in it and I want to make a cheap upgrade so I can do some light Gaming. The Dell computer has a 250W power supply and I'm wondering if it would be safe to use a GTX 750ti with it. Will I be okay using a core 2 duo and a GTX 750ti with the 250W psu in the computer?
Thanks in advance

Solution
no.

OK, lets expand on that, if it is a perfect 250W PSU with no aging at all, then maybe, but it'd be close to the edge. But it's aged, we don't know what else you've got, so it'll be beyond close and too far in my opinion.
The Core2 is 65W or less, So is the GTX750, so 130W accounted for. Even with a Core2 quad your only up to 160W. The MB and memory might use 60W so 190-220W. The small PSU is because of the small number of drive bays and expansion slots available. Should work just fine.
