I am getting my rtx 3070 tomorrow in the mail and Im afraid that its going to bottleneck my 2700x. I play games in 1080p. If this is the case i might get either a 5600x or 5700x to go with my 3070. This system is for pure gaming but I stream very little and maybe some adobe or davinci work for school.

Fair enough, however I don’t think the 5600x comes with a stock cooler. However your 2700x should have come with a wraith prism cooler which I’m assuming is what you are using now. I’d recommend using that cooler with the 5600x. The 5600x should only be a 65 watt cpu and the prism should be sufficient.

I could buy an air cooler at with the 5800x but you think there is a way to install an air cooler without taking the mobo out? Theres 2 stores that have the cpus. One has a 5600x but its 40 mins the other had the 5800x and its 10 mins. Also im pretty sure the 5600x comes with a cooler. Would the prizm cooler be okay with the 5800x? It has the same tdp as the 2700x.

Many benchmarks show that the 2700X can show less frames at 1080 than newer CPU. That gap is bridged in many cases when you move up to 2K, which the 3070 will be well capable of.

I would suggest first doing your homework to be sure the motherboard you have supports 5xxx via BIOS update. There are some compelling sales going on the newer series this weekend. If you are gaming and streaming I would personally recommend the R7 flavor.

Yes it will but it depends on the context. What refresh rate are you playing at?

Also don't upgrade from an 8 core chip to a 6 core chip, that will break the internet, get at least a 5700X.

I have the most recent bios on my mobo. I do more gaming than anything and when i did stream i used the nvenc quality setting.

Then I would get the GPU and wait until the CPU is available. I just don't think the 5600X is a good upgrade in this case and you can survive a bit longer with the 2700X, it's not a bad CPU. That would be my two cents anyways.
a 5800x is available at a local store I can get today. I know is not much better than a 5700x but who cares its available.

It's not much better no and it does run hotter due to higher clock speeds but with the 5600X your taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back. It's noticeably faster in games and it's similar in overall CPU power to the 2700X, but that's the issue, it's more of a side grade.
