Will a 300w PSU be ok for a 9800 Gt 1 gb EE edition

Solution
Hi,

You would be under limit. Least power supply needed for standard 9800GT is arround 400W which can provide at least 18amps of constant current. This would mean that you need to go with good, branded PSU of 350W+. In my opinion it would be best to buy something like Corsair CX430, Antec 380 or if wan't something cheaper Cooler master Elite 460W. So, unload about 20-25$ more for one of these and you'll be good.

Best regards :)

In theory yes. But would not recomend using 18amp PSU for 16-17$ from amazon or ebay. It does not stable output. If you buy good PSU it will last long. With these no name PSU's you could get dead one out of the box, failling one within a month or least probable working one which will last for long time. If you are willing to risk your mobo, cpu, and video card for 20$ more then do whatever you like. I can't recomend it.

This is one of reviews i came accross with... "yet another power supply from another company. I purchased a Diabletek PHD450. It failed out of the box (verified by using known good supply). This was in July 2009. I got a RMA and they returned the same dead power supply with the same problem. After several calls I got another RMA. I returned the supply. UPS confirmed delivery. they still have not sent a replacement. It is now April 2010. When I call the support number on their web site I am given another number - no one is ever there. NEVER AGAIN - DIABLOTEK IS DEAD."

Don't think you should get one.

Coolmax is not something i can recomend. You should go for that coolermaster at least. This coolmax has enough power to run your 9800gt but it's gamble long term. Coolermaster at least.

Check hardware secrets for Coolmax PSU's review. "Never buy this... stay away"
