[SOLVED] Will a 3070 RTX work fine with an i5 7600k?

So I've been looking forward to upgrading my 1080 GTX to a RTX 3070, but one question I have in mind is if it will work fine with an i5 7600k, I am definitely aware that there will be a bit of bottle neck, but I am wondering if it will work completely fine until I save up enough money to upgrade my CPU.

And if it does work, will there be so much bottleneck that the performance won't differ that much between my 1080 and a 3070?

I've already looked over many existing forums on other websites regarding this topic, but all I saw was mixed answers. I'm looking for an answer preferably by someone who knows his stuff, as I really don't know that much about stuff like this, and thanks.

The RTX 3070 will work just as fine as your GTX 1080. You may see some fps improvement on games that are heavily GPU bound. But even the GTX 1080 is a bit much for the i5 quad core with today's AAA games.
If you game at a higher resolution 1440p or better, the GPU will have more work to do and bottleneck will be less. Is your 7600k overclocked?

I play at 1080p, and no, my 7600k isn't overclocked. Do you know if there are any 7th Gen cpus that go well with a 3070? I'm not really looking to upgrade my mobo. But if I have to, then be it. My mobo is a z270 prime a if you are wondering. And Thank you for the reply.

Although there are i7’s (6700(k) or 7700(k)) they are generally way overpriced for the performance boost over the i5. For gaming the main thing you gain is hyperthreading. I’d say you are better off just going to a new motherboard and at least a 6 core 12 thread cpu.

The i7-7700K is the top of the line for that generation of CPUs and those Asus Prime boards. (there were more than one)
That CPU (not OC'ed) is about equal to the new i3-10100. That should eat up some of the bottleneck.
