will a 450w PSU be enough for my Sapphire 7870XT?

my pc specs:

CPU: intel i5-3470
motherboard: Gigabyte H61M-s2p
RAM: 8GB
GPU: Sapphire HD 7870XT 2GB
HDD: WD blue 1TB

my current PSU is thermaltake 500w.. model TT- 500 NL2NL
it says that its 450w and peaks at 500w.. I'm using it since 4 years till now.. but it started to make constant noisy sound and some other problems.

i wanted to know if buying a 450w psu will be enough for my system?.. i don't know which model yet and i don't have many options to choose.. it will be most likely a slightly used branded PSU.

Your GPU uses quite the much power, plus your cpu does so too, just get a 600watt. evga b1 bronze 600watt

unfortunately i can't because I'm short in money, plus my current PSU is 500w and its 4 years old as i said..
so why 600w?.. i think its not necessary.

Your Thermaltake TT-500NL2NL (W0410) 450W PSU really doesn't have sufficient combined +12 Volt continuous current capacity for your system configuration. The fact that the PSU only has one 6-pin PCI Express Connector is an indication of insufficient +12V capacity. That noisy sound is an indication of overload.

If it's the Corsair CX450 it should be sufficient.

thank you.. i doubt the noisy sound is an indication of overload, because even if i remove my GPU which has the most power consumption between my components the noise still there..

recently my pc is acting strange since i started to hear that sound, I'm facing difficulties in booting, no beeping.. i have to turn it off/on several times so it can boot.. plus I'm booting in safe mode, because every time Windows start the pc restart itself, and so on.. it didn't happened in safe mode though.

so I'm worried of buying new expensive PSU and then find out that the problem was else where, and unfortunately i can't borrow one..

so whats your opinion? do you think the problem may still exist even after buying new PSU?.. what should i do?
sorry for taking long, but I'm really confused and frustrated.

PS: I'm 99% sure that the noise is coming from the PSU, i thought it was a combination between mobo and PSU, but when i stucked my ear below the case which the PSU fan is located i could hear it coming more clearly from inside the PSU.

do you think that noise is related to the strange issues I'm facing with my pc?. and if its not an indication of overload, what could it be?

What is the exact sound? I can only guess because I'm not there to hear it. It could even be the PSU's cooling fan since those fan's use cheap sleeve bearings that don't last very long.

Without any spare parts to test with it is very difficult to troubleshoot.

the sound is like rattling/buzzing/hissing or similar to a gas leak sound and its constant noise.. it became much louder after i removed my GPU, cleared CMOS and did little cleaning.

do you think a failing PSU's fan could cause this issues I'm facing with my pc?.. like unable to boot easily, sudden restart, etc..

If you're getting spontaneous reboots then that is a good indication of an unstable/faulty power supply.
