Rear end gearing is another concern, 94-95 Mustangs with a 5.0 had a 3.08 (Manual) ratio and a 2001 with a 3.8L shipped with a 3.27. 3.08 on a V6 would give you the best MPG and higher top speed but also the slowest takeoff and torque. 3.55 to 3.73 generally are where you find the best balance and a more enjoyable diving experience for a daily driver. It's pretty easy to change out that gear and also match the speedo gear up to match the right speeds.
